Biography

Carsyn Gekas (she/her) is originally from Dallas, Texas, and received her early training at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and Dance Industry Performing Arts Center (2020). She was also a member of the Pre-Professional Company through the Thriving Artist Project. Carsyn graduated in 2024 with a BFA in Dance as a Composition Concentration from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase College. Carsyn is currently working as a professional freelance dancer and choreographer. Over the years she has performed works by Kyle Abraham, Mark Caserta, Peter Chu, Martha Graham, Loni Landon, Micaela Taylor and more. She has also furthered her training at intensives including San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Batsheva Summer Course in Tel Aviv and Nuova Officina della Danza in Torino, Italy. Carsyn is very passionate about choreographing and capturing movement on film. She has worked as a movement director for the play “How to Defend Yourself” by Liliana Padilla as well as presented work in the 2020 Mobile Dance Film Festival.
